This job involved the demolition of a small office block in Maidstone, Kent. We had to provide a RAMS statement (Risk Analysis and Method Statement), this detailed how we would deal with risks and provided a detailed project plan for the project. The property also had some asbestos, which we also had to document how it was removed and disposed of.

Security of the site was very important as we were in a built up area so we had to provide secure fencing and warning signs telling the public to keep out. We also provided a site building and a 24 hour guard for the site.

We used high reach excavators, pulverisors, shears, breakers, and selector grab attachments. To keep the dust down we used Dust Boss Machines, this device reduces the dust pollution to the area by spraying a fine mist of water onto the demolition.

The structure was mostly constructed of concrete so the ability to recover a large amount of items for re-use was very limited and we only managed a 35% recovery rate, which by our standards was low.

The project took 4 weeks from start to finish and the site was left clear and safe for the builders to move in.
